Convertible Car Hire in Paris and Beyond
Convertible car rental in Paris is the ultimate way to enjoy a sunny French road trip. Dropping the roof on the Champs-Élysées, cruising along the Seine valley, or arriving at a Champagne estate with the hood down — these are moments that turn a standard holiday into something memorable. Our convertible range is available from April to October, weather-dependent, with soft-top and hard-top options.
We stock convertibles in two main categories. The first is the sports roadster: a two-seater with limited luggage space, ideal for a weekend away with a partner. The second is the four-seat cabriolet, which fits a family or two couples and offers a practical boot for a weekend bag each. Both categories are automatic, making them easy to drive even in Paris city traffic with the roof open and the radio on.
French weather in spring and early autumn can be unpredictable. All our convertibles have a one-button electric roof mechanism: if clouds gather, the roof is up in under 20 seconds without stopping the car (below 50 km/h). Hard-top convertibles offer better insulation in cooler evenings and are noticeably quieter on the motorway. We recommend the hard-top if you plan to use the car in the evening or on longer motorway sections.
Best Routes for a Convertible in France
- Paris to Honfleur via the Seine valley — 170 km of varied scenery
- Champagne Route — D951 through Hautvillers and Épernay vineyards
- Loire Valley — D952 along the river, past Amboise and Blois
- Côte d’Azur — the Corniche roads between Nice and Monaco (if you extend south)
Convertibles are popular and the fleet is limited. Book at least two weeks in advance for summer dates, and three to four weeks for July and August when demand peaks. A convertible rental requires a full driving licence held for at least two years and a credit card deposit of €800. Standard insurance covers the bodywork; the soft-top is covered under our optional protection plan, which we recommend given the higher repair cost of convertible roofs.
Parking a convertible in Paris overnight requires a secure garage. We can recommend parking facilities near our downtown branches, and our staff will point you to covered parking options along popular routes. Never leave valuables visible in the car when the roof is down or when the vehicle is unattended.
